A Superhero throwdown, DC style; some backwoods desert survival; the Ain't Right's last gig ever; and a bunch of kids summon Satan... There are only four new movies of note hitting VOD this week, but at least they're solid titles that are worth our time and money.
*Be sure to click the pics to rent the movies, or watch their trailers. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?
BATMAN v SUPERMAN (ULTIMATE EDITION) |
"From director Zack Snyder comes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman in the characters' first big-screen pairing. The Ultimate Edition includes approximately 30 minutes of extended footage never before seen in theaters!"
We thought that BvS was a decent enough movie, but it felt like it was trying to do way too much at one time, and there wasn't enough Batman for our tastes. From what we hear, this Ultimate Edition fleshes the story out and makes it all better. We'll definitely be checking it out to see if that's the case. RENT IT because maybe it's better than it was before.
If you liked the Theatrical Version just fine, you can watch it HERE.
CARNAGE PARK |
"A deranged serial killer hunts an escaped captive in the sun-baked desert after a botched robbery places her in the mouth of hell in this gritty crime thriller."
A quirky, low-budget Indie Thriller with a twisted, old school grindhouse feel to it; that's what Carnage Park looks like to us. With the always-great Pat Healy, and the ever-lovely Ashley Bell heading the cast, we have a reasonable hope that it's going to be a good one. IFC Midnight usually doesn't steer us wrong. RENT IT because Ashley Bell with a gun sounds like a fun time to us.
GREEN ROOM |
"After witnessing a shocking crime, a young rock band is unexpectedly thrust into a life-or-death battle to escape the clutches of a diabolical club owner (Patrick Stewart) and his ruthless henchmen in this white-knuckle thriller."
Green Room is one of our favorite movies of 2016. It's intense, gory, and it kept us on the edge of our seats throughout. This is the best VOD rental of the week. RENT IT because it's great.
SATANIC |
"In Theaters Now. From the producers of The Walking Dead. Four occult obsessed co-eds on a road trip to Coachella stop off in LA to tour notorious Satanic-Panic sites and unwittingly stumble upon a sinister ritual. After saving a mysterious girl from certain death, she sets them on a terrifying path to ultimate horror. With Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) and Clara Mamet (The Neighbors)."
Satanic could end up being a generic, by-the-numbers Supernatural effort, or it could end up being one that really surprises us by being better than it should be. We're banking on the former, but we'll check it out either way. RENT IT because it might not suck.
